Wedding Candy Buffets!...
Sweetest Pears' Helpful Tips for Creating the Perfect Sweetie Buffet...
|
Are you looking for a unique favour idea your wedding guests will love?
The Sweetie/Candy buffet is one of my favorite wedding trends. I had
one at my own wedding in June and it went down an absolute storm!!! In
addition to a Sweet Bar being a great wedding favour, they are also a
fun wedding decoration and can really brighten up the room.
Here are some tips to help you create the perfect Candy Buffet… * Fabulous Jars and/or Vases! The first thing you need to do is find some great candy containers and scoops and or tongs. You can hire containers (check with your wedding planner, florist, or online for ideas and options) or you can buy your own. Some places I would suggest looking for containers, are: TK Maxx, Dunelm Mill, The Range, Charity Shops, Car Boot Sales, BHS, Next, Ebay, Supermarkets (Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons) A very polular option are LOVE plates! These are quirky and will look really fabulous on your sweet buffet! I purchased my LOVE dishes from Angelic Weddings. Clear containers usually work best, they show your sweet selections better. Be creative. The sky is the limit when it comes to how you want your candy buffet to look. * Scoop it up! After very extensive research, I found some lovely little scoops for the candy bar at my wedding! They're actually canape spoons, but are the perfect size for small jars... some of the scoops you can buy are too big for dainty containers. A couple of suppliers I found where you can purchase these, are Cream Supplies and Russums. * Decorate the Table: In addition to your sweetie jars and sweet selections, you could decorate the table. Consider including:
* Boxes and Bags: There are many ways for your guests to collect their sweets. Candy Striped Paper Bags work really well (try ebay for fabulous striped ones!! 5" x 7" ones are the perfect size!) You could also use little fabric bags, small card boxes, or chinese takeaway boxes!! If you need any of these personalising, please get in touch as I can certainly help with anything like this!! * How to Decide which Sweets to use: Consider several things – your wedding colours, theme, and your favorite sweets. Great websites to find all types and colours of sweets are: www.Sweetstall.com, www.hancocks.co.uk and www.chocolatebuttons.co.uk. Also try your local Supermarkets, Costco, Makro, TK Maxx, M&S... The list goes on! Adding cookies and cupcakes on pretty stands can also bulk out a sweetie buffet, and are sometimes cheaper than sweets!! Even supermarket ones can look fabulous with some pretty Card Toppers on sticks, or fancy Cupcake Wrappers! Please Contact me if you are interested in anything like this. It is a good idea to use your wedding colours to inspire your sweetie selections. You don’t have to stay true to the colours you selected for the rest of the wedding, but it is a great way to tie it all together. The thing to remember with colour is that it makes a difference – whatever colors you choose. In my opinion, Sweetie Bars with coordinated colours look much better than random coloured ones :) Think about the Season!!!... If you're getting married on a really hot day in the middle of Summer... maybe even setting the candy bar up outside, then it may be a bad idea to have a lot of chocolate and other sweets that could melt. The day of our wedding was boiling and ours was actually fine, phew! (we had a lot of chocolate; maltesers white mice etc etc), it was sent up in a marquee which was kept quite cool... but it's something to consider! Make your guests literally feel like a kid in a Sweet Shop when they join in the celebration of your wedding! Michelle (Sweetest Pear owner & designer) xxx |
